Every Year there always seems to be an "It" shape that becomes the new template for most designers to create their masterful collections from and this year was no different.  Let me introduce you to this years shape, dun dun duuun.... over sized and boxy.  This ever so versatile shape is everywhere,  Coats, tops. Jackets and even dresses are now being made to fit looser and boxier.  To the  fashion laymen, it may appear as if people   are wearing hand me downs that are two sizes too big, but that's actually the current style and look they are going for.  I mean, when you think about it, it makes since.  These larger pieces create and optical illusion, making you look smaller and of course skinnier.  Last year we were given a little hint as to this "boxy rebellion" with the introduction of the cocoon coats and before that there were the still hot, boyfriend jeans.  This year, bigger is definitely better.  Personally, I am all about this style.  I am petite or a nugget as some say;-) so bigger is not that hard for me to pull off.  Not to mention the comfort factor.  Lastly, what women doesn't want to look skinnier.  So now, as fall and winter are upon us, I suggest you pick up a boxy coat to add to your wardrobe.  Look for a big roomy fit but not a more than 2 sizes too big.  Remember, keep it tailored to your particular body type.  If the coat is meant to hit your thighs,  make sure it doesn't end at your knees.  Sleeves as well need to be the correct length.  There is a difference between boxy and way to big. Prepare to say Au revoir to body con and Bonjour boxy!!!
